Here’s Why Kevin Durant & Monica Wright Broke Up

Around this time last year, news got around that Oklahoma City Thunder star Kevin Durant was engaged to be married to WNBA star Monica Wright, a guard for the Minnesota Lynx.
Baller Alert states , during a chat at the Minnesota Lynx’s Faith and Family Night event, Wright confirmed that the couple went their separate ways earlier this year. Even though they seemed like a cute couple, Wright said it was differences in their faith that drove them apart.
“I was engaged last year and it kind of changed that relationship big time because I was going in a direction that unfortunately a lot of people aren’t willing to sacrifice their lifestyle for.”
Wright didn’t specify what things Durant wasn’t willing to sacrifice his lifestyle for, but choosing not to accommodate the changes she was making for her faith was enough to let Wright know that she needed to move on alone. All of this is interesting considering that Durant seems to take his faith very seriously. He’s often seen moving around with his pastor, Carl Lentz of Hillsong Church in NYC. When speaking on getting baptized by Lentz last year, Durant had this to say during a testimony at the church:
“When I came out of the water, I just felt different. Basketball is so important to me and I carry that emotion with me all of the time and before that I would be so mad at the smallest things. My coaches, my teammates, my fans. After that, I was just so positive. Showing God his grace…”
These are the statement but, some say the break up was because, of cheating.
Although, Wright claimed that the break up was due to changes, some speculated the break up was caused after his mistress named, Mercedes aired out their affair on Twitter.
“I don’t care that KD has a wife, wife or no wife he still f– the same,” Mercedes tweeted before deleting the comment
She later posted, “@KDTrey5 enjoyed seeing you the other night. Men cheat on their wives a lot, stop acting like brand new,!”
So the question is did faith play a role or old fashion humping around? Its sad because, they were a cute couple.
