BET Hip Hop Awards 2014 Green Carpet: “Hit or Miss?”

by Patricia “Blu” Freeman September 21, 2014

The Boisfeuillet Jones Atlanta Civic Center was a buzz of excitement this past Saturday. Rappers, Reality Stars, Actors/Actresses and other music veterans came out and showed out for one of the biggest events of the year, “The BET Hip Hop Awards 2014”, presented by Sprite. When it’s an awards show and it’s a BET show, stars and their stylists come out  to show their signature style, or fabulous new styles that the stylists choose for them to walk the Carpet. This year, the guys went for comfortable styles, while the ladies went for a variety of styles, from elegant cocktail dresses to other hot, amazing looks. Some ensembles were just, let’s say, “different”.

As they are walking the carpet, the question we always have on our minds…is their outfit a “Hit” or “Miss”?

The BET Awards will not air until Oct. 14th, but “Style Watch with Blu” gathered a few looks from the “Green” carpet. Check them out and tell me if it’s a “Hit” or a “Miss”.

You can’t have a Green Carpet without hosts. Check out Bow Wow,  #Shademoss106 and Tiny, and #MajorGirl. Bow Wow made accessories important, with gold chains and standout red shoes. Tiny looked sophisticated in an A-Line black dress, with gorgeous animal print boots. They certainly did a fabulous job hosting the carpet, but were they a “Hit” or “Miss”?.

Leather was a trend on the red carpet. Kandi Burruss, was rocking Alice+Olivia Pants and Bailey Shirt. Lil Mama’s look was a different take on an off the shoulder, custom made dress by John Paul Ataker, with one-legged leather pant. Were the ladies a hit or miss?

Mila J., Erica Mena and Wendy Raquel Williams looked flawless in a mix of leather, lace, and crochet midi dresses. Behind these three beautiful ladies are awesome celebrity stylists and designers. Celebrity Stylist, J.Bolin, dressed Wendy Raquel Williams in Designer Reco Chapple’s (House of Chapple) Midi Cocktail Dress. How many ways can I say “perfection!”. Erica Mena’s stylist, “Simply Glamo”, dressed her in a two piece skirt and top with cropped jacket. Were the selections a “Hit” or “Miss”?

The beautiful Love & Hip Hop of Atlanta Ladies Joseline Hernandez, wearing Herve Leger and Porsha Williams, wearing a nude sequin Gucci Jumpsuit, and also Actress/Comedian Erica Ash, wearing a Oliver Zhang frock,  bring a bit of sexy and classy with a bit of color to the carpet.

Are these ladies “Hit” or “Miss”?

Ne-Yo, Common, Busta Rhymes, T.I, Snoop, French Montana and Nelly were dress casual and comfortable. French seems to have brought a bit of Michael Jordan to the carpet…huh?!…

My Man Busta Rhymes was looking pretty big in chest, but was still sharp and on point. Yes, check them out. Are they a “Hit” or “Miss”?

I couldn’t end without mentioning my man T.I.’s very casual look, although, I don’t understand the socks. Hey, he could be setting a trend!

MC Lyte I just love. She was dressed casually with a men’s baseball jacket but gave this look a feminine touch  with the heels and a pop of red on the lips. A Nice Twist!
