Alfonso Ribeiro brings ‘The Carlton’ to DWTS in Grand Fashion!

Alfonso Ribeiro finally did what we’ve all been waiting for. The former ‘Fresh Prince of Bel Air’ star finally performed his signature dance routine, ‘The Carlton’. From the first night of Dancing with the Stars Season 19, Ribeiro wowed the audience with his dance abilities. Monday night was no exception, when we could hear the beginning of their Jazz routine song set to Carlton’s favorite song: “It’s Not Unusual” by Tom Jones. The crowd went crazy as he tore up the dance floor with dance routine that made him a household name, ‘The Carlton’.

We got a blast from the past with this routine and we loved it. Ribeiro starred from 1990 to 1996 as goody two-shoes Carlton Banks on “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air,” alongside Will Smith. Signature fashions the character wore were cardigans and khakis and danced to Tom Jones music, an arm-swinging move affectionately called “The Carlton.

This week’s episode featured the the ‘Most Memorable Year’. For six years, we loved seeing his character, Carlton, perform the dance on the show but it seems he may have mixed feelings about things. He mentions in the interview, before the dance, for this week’s episode, ‘Carlton was someone I had a blast playing for six years’. The 43 year old further states:

`“I was pigeonholed as an actor based on that character. I fell out of love” with the breakthrough character as a result, but now back in love with Carlton and his accompanying dance. “I love how it makes people feel. I love the fact that people have this nostalgic look at that dance,” he said. “My No. 1 goal this week is to please the fans and to give America what I feel they’ve been asking for since the beginning of this show: The Carlton.”

Well Alfonso Ribeiro, the judges thought it was a hit because they gave you and your partner 10’s across the board. As you can see we are glad you brought ‘The Carlton’ back. Bravo!
