The UnderGround Girls of Hip Hop Recap
The Underground Girls Of Hip Hop brought down the house at the “2014 Female Hip Hop
Honors” on September 13th at the Warner Grand Theatre in Los Angeles. This Epic event
brought together the best of the best in female hip-hop past, present and future for one legendary
night hosted by Comedian Rodney Perry and Melanie Comarcho.
This year’s awards and honorees include: “Pioneer Award” recipients legendary rap group
Oaktown’s 3.5.7, “Lyrics For Life” recipient Da Brat, Michel’le, a legendary R&B
songstress was recognized with the “R&B/Hip Hop Lifetime Achievement Award”, Charli
Baltimore received the “Unstoppable Woman Award” and This year’s “Humanitarian
Award” went to Doreen Broadnax, aka Sparky D.
With Oaktown’s 3.5.7 performing for the first time together in 20 years, Adina Howard (Freak Like Me),
Love & Hip Hop ATL stars Joseline Hernandez and Stevie J, Musiq SoulChild , The Legend Medusa,
Including Celebrity guest appearance by Lushy Lush (winner of the social media and radio personality
award 2014), Greg Wayans (comedian and second generation wayans), Torrei Hart ( from Atlanta Ex),
Sammie, Tami Roman (Basketball wives Miami) and many more.
Shylise Simpson, The Underground Girls of Hip Hop’s founder and owner established the show to
recognize, treat and pamper the women in this business in an official and symbolic manner which
started with 2 gifting suites on land and Water which were both filled with celebrities
The Land gifting suite was quite the experience filled with stars such as Da Brat, Sparky D, Cynthia
Horner (chief editor of Hip-hop weekly), actors Dennis White, Jonathan Mcdaniel from VH1 Hit the
Floor. There were lots of foods, drinks and alcohol beverages sponsored by Exclusive Liquor.
This was held the day before on Friday, September 12, 2014 at the Crown Plaza Hotel.
The gifting suite was meant for pampering, upon entrance, you’re greeted by the host and a glass. They
were lots of make-up artist, stylist and hairdressers.
They also made sure each person in attendance left with a gift bags filled with goodies.
All in all, the gifting suite and event was a success and well enjoyed by all those in attendance.
